Fuse33 Makerspace
A shared workshop that transcends the conventional notion of a makerspace

Join us for this hands-on, one-day workshop where you’ll craft your own 4” Japanese inspired santoku kitchen knife from high-carbon steel. The santoku is a traditional Japanese style blade known by virtue of the name; Santoku (三徳) means “three virtues” or “three uses” in Japanese, referring to a versatile, general-purpose kitchen knife good for slicing, dicing, and mincing meat, fish, and vegetables, combining elements of Western chef’s knives with traditional Japanese design for a do-it-all tool.

Over the course of the session, you’ll learn essential metalworking techniques, including shaping, heat treating, and sharpening your knife to a razor-sharp edge. This class is perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, no prior experience necessary! By the end of the day, you’ll walk away with a knife, handcrafted by you. All materials and safety gear are provided.
